This little guy - and I mean litttttttttle guy - has mommy and daddy wrapped around those sweet little fingers already. Arriving about 5 weeks ahead of his due date, mom and dad weren't quite ready for his arrival. Sure, they had the necessities, but the nursery was not put together, the clothes were not folded and tucked away and mom certainly did not have her bag packed! I might be making that last part up, but what I do know is that Brandon and Kristy learned very quickly that children have an agenda of their own. As much as we [parents] try to prepare for what our babies will throw our way, you can never fully prepare. Countless hours were spent visiting their new son in the NICU and while I am unfamiliar with NICU life, I am a parent and I do know how trying this time is for a new parent, especially mom. You are overwhelmed by the physical aspects of childbirth, the needs of your newborn child and the stress of trying to figure it all out. Coupled with the inability to bring your child home and the complexities associated with having a premature infant (feeding, bonding, etc.), I applaud Kristy (and you too, Brandon) for keeping it together and remaining faithful through it all. Two weeks following little man's birth, these two graciously welcomed him home. A handful of sleepless nights, numerous feedings and countless diaper changes later, Brandon and Kristy invited me to capture their new addition. Little baby K was still two weeks shy of his due date!
^^^Love me a sweet infant yawn! So adorable!
This shot may be one of my all-time favorite shots! Dad and baby moments are always precious, but that expression is priceless!
The following image is one that was fun to capture for this family. I met Brandon through my husband, who got to know Brandon while they both attended Kutztown University. Aside from being at nearly every party my husband had back in the day, Brandon also had a hand in my husband's proposal, which naturally made him more than fit to be his best man on our wedding day! Both men spent time in the U.S. Army, so I just loved the chance to capture baby "K" with daddy's old uniform. :) And I won't lie, I love the manly diaper bag, too!
Both the rocking chair and this bassinet were passed down through the families to Brandon and Kristy. I absolutely adore when I am able to incorporate such personal items into a session! It makes each session - regardless of the type - so unique!
It just so happened that dad also welcomed a new bike into the family while I was visiting for their session. I think his expression says it all - with his son in his hands, his wife by his side and his new bike supporting him, he's got everything he needs, and more!
Brandon and Kristy, thank you so much for trusting me to capture these sweet moments in your new life as a family of three! And yes, I'm just talking about your human family, as I certainly realize your household is much larger than that! ;) I look forward to watching little man grow and develop a personality of his own, fit with Kristy's sweet nature and Brandon's unending humor. Much love to you all from the Gundrum family!
