ONE. This little man is ONE!
As a parent, it is truly astonishing just how quickly the first year passes. Those long hours, days, weeks and months… they all fade away and before you know it, that little human - you know, the one that once felt so difficult to support - is now ONE! How does time seem to pass so quickly at times when you want it to slow down and it just drags when you want it to speed up? It’s funny how these things work!
Max’s mother reached out to schedule a one year milestone and cake smash shoot a few months in advance, and I am so glad she did! We worked together to brainstorm a few setups for Max’s shoot. Little man’s birthday theme was ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. How appropriate, right? You know, since his name is Max and all… It was a no-brainer to integrate this theme into his milestone and cake smash session! While he wasn’t quite having any part of the costumes, we did manage to get a few shots before calling it quits and moving on to Max’s favorite part of the session - the cake smash. If you’ve seen my social media pages lately, you’ve probably seen the end shot from Max’s cake smash, which we had saved for the very end. I think he secretly knew there was cake to be had and wanted to skip all the baloney (aka our other setups) and dive straight into his cake!
Continue scrolling to take a peek at some of the shots we captured during Max's session, which included a few family shots, some simple shots of Max, a few themed shots (props to mom for her craft skills!) and of course - THE CAKE SMASH! :-P
Mom found this neat balloon on Etsy and has documented Max beside it every month, so it was imperative that we included it for his big ONE YEAR as well! I totally wish I would have captured my son’s growth next to an object like that! Something to keep in mind for you expecting mommas!
Here’s a peek at some of mom’s craft skills - she made this ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ decoration for Max’s party! Isn’t it cute? I told her she needs to open an Etsy shop, but dad put the breaks on that idea. Who’s got time for that!?
And then the always fun cake smash…
This session was so much fun to plan and shoot! I absolutely love when my clients come to me with ideas! It makes each session truly personalized and unique.
Jamie - thank you SO much for reaching out to schedule Max’s session. I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to capture these precious moments, and like I’ve said before, to have met a new friend as well! Steve and Max are lucky to have you in their lives - you three are such a sweet family and I hope we have the opportunity to work together again!
