Matt and Whitney are another couple that are near and dear to my heart. Matt is my little brother, who married his soulmate on a blustery, fall day in October of last year. I was honored that Matt and Whitney asked me to capture their day. The two were married on a beautiful property in Marysville, Ohio. Whitney is a very down-to-earth, laid back woman who was so relaxed on her wedding day. She took everything in stride, starting with the decision to move their ceremony indoors due to weather. Their day turned out to be a beautiful one, despite the cold and wind. Congratulations on your marriage, Matt and Whitney! I look forward to watching you two grow together! :)
Whitney prepared for her day in the home she grew up in, alongside her dear sister, Mikayla, her mother, and her closest cousins.
As the girls were getting ready, I stumbled upon this wedding portrait - it just spoke to me. When asked who this was, the girls shared that it was their grandmother. Suggesting the photo would look beautiful on the piano in another room, their reaction was sweet, that I unknowingly made the connection between the photograph and piano.
After the girls were finished getting ready, I hurried over to capture a few photos of Matt and his groomsmen, a dear friend he met after moving to Illinois, and Whitney's brother.
The couple had decided to share a first look, to ease their nerves and maximize time with their family and friends post-ceremony. The emotional connection in these photos is overwhelming - I don't know about you, but it makes me smile!
Before the ceremony began, I stole Matt away to give him a note Whitney had written for him. I am so thankful that he graciously allowed me to capture him as he read her sweet words - you could tell by his reaction that Whitney pulled the words from her heart.
A few detail shots, including their cake, centerpieces, communion, alter lighting and their 'guestbook', which included Jenga messages from family and friends.
Sometimes the candid moments are the truest moments... relaxing a bit now that the serious business is out of the way!
The couples first dance as husband and wife, followed by Whitney with her father and Matt with his mother, who prepared (unbeknownst to him) a slideshow featuring the couple through the years.
Cutting the cake...
A few formal portraits featuring the newly married couple, their bridal party, along with his and her families, and extended family and friends.
I said it once, and I'll say it again - congratulations Matthew and Whitney!
